Board

Salisbury Arts Centre’s board of directors is made up of nine members of the Salisbury community who have a passion for the arts and who bring to the board a range of experiences and knowledge.

Rhoddy Voremberg, Chair of the Board

Rhoddy has been a committed supporter of cultural and community initiatives in and around Salisbury for the 25 years he and his family have lived here.   As a solicitor working with private clients and a Senior Partner of Wilsons, he has seen first hand many successful partnerships of individuals and businesses in community projects such as Salisbury Arts Centre and is passionate about all the Arts Centre has to offer for people of all ages.

Tim Bates

Tim is the Head of art at a local Prep school, is the co-ordinator for Art in Prep schools nationwide and he also runs a forum for art education in the area. He enjoys being a part of the Arts Centre as he sees it as a dynamic and exciting centre for the Arts of all strands for all ages and all interests.

Gini Churchill

Artist (trained as a printmaker in Denmark). Loves eating the homemade hummus salad in the Arts Centre cafe. Passionate about the Arts ("Arts is what is irresistible" said by the writer William Saroyan to composer/pianist William Bolcom). And obsessive about equality, diversity and Link Up Arts.

Mick Cooney

Mick and his wife, Irene, moved to live in Salisbury ten years ago and one of the first things they did was to sign up as volunteers at Salisbury Arts Centre. They quickly became involved with stewarding and fundraising. Mick, by profession an accountant, joined the board some four years ago with a brief to advise on financial matters.

Mick has an interest in all forms of art, especially performing arts and is a member of a local amateur dramatic group, The Bemerton Players. He and his wife have made many good friends through The Arts Centre and have enjoyed being involved in the Capital Project, followed by the exciting re-launch two years ago.

Jane Gann

Jane moved to Salisbury the year the Arts Centre opened and has been a supporter since then. Her particular interests are theatre, film and music. Her three children have been involved since they were very young through participating in workshops, attending performances and volunteering. Her youngest son was inspired to learn to play guitar when at the age of 3 he came to a folk music concert and has since performed on the main stage with his rock band. Jane most values the opportunities the arts centre gives for young people within in a safe environment.

Ruth Jones

Ruth is an experienced professional youth arts specialist and works at national and regional levels as a consultant, trainer, moderator, author and project manager. Partners and clients include Arts Council of England, Trinity Guildhall, Youth Music, NESTA, and National Student Drama Festival.

Within the arts world Ruth is known for her straightforward, down to earth approach, and she attributes her maverick attitude to a well spent youth playing in a punk rock band and hanging out at Salisbury Arts Centre! She believes the arts should be accessible to everyone and particularly supports the Arts Centre's work with young people.

Ian Kirby

Ian Kirby has lived in Salisbury since 1976 and is currently Deputy Head of The Burgate School and Sixth Form Centre in Fordingbridge.  He has a keen interest in the arts and was delighted to be asked to join the board in October 2006.

Neville Moody

Salisbury is fortunate to have such a vibrant Arts Centre at its heart. Diverse and innovative artistic programmes reach out to every corner of the community and strive to quench the artistic thirst of the people of South Wiltshire and beyond

Having played a part in the recent refurbishment of the Arts Centre by sponsoring removals and storage requirements through the transition period, and having sown the seed for the residency of Sarum Orchestra, Neville is pleased to be involved at the interface of arts and business as the Centre now enters a new and exciting phase in its development.
