Show and Tell #16 - Aaron Catlow
Aaron Catlow is a virtuoso guitar and fiddle player from the band Sheelanagig that will perform here on Thursday 12 October. Sheelanagig have become something of a West Country institution for the past decade. A quintet with a well-stocked armoury of stringed instruments – guitar, fiddle, double bass – and a bagful of joint-jumping tunes, these boys sure know how to get a party started.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Running down a steep grassy hill as fast as possible and usually falling over and at the very least gathering a severe bruise.
What lies at the heart of your own desire to do your creative work?
To entertain and bring any sort of emotion out in an audience. Usually happiness but i'm sure it has at some point been disgust!
What are the first things you do in developing an idea in response to a subject?
Contemplate the underlying contextual subtleties of the idioms involved in the project......usually with a pint of cider and some pork scratchings.
What’s your favourite film and why?
'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. Why? Well its pure pointless insanity and Johnny Deep is superb in it.
