Javier Jarquin will perform his stand up comedy at our November Barnstormers.

After appearing on television and playing and headlining some of the biggest clubs in Australia and New Zealand Javier Jarquin moved to the UK in 2010 where he has established himself as a circuit regular and headline act around the country and in mainland Europe. Winner of The Press Critics Choice Award for 'Best National Artist' World Buskers Festival 2012 and of the 'Best Show Wellington’ Award at The New Zealand International Comedy Festival 2010.


What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A Mexican buffet

What lies at the heart of your own desire to write and perform standup comedy?
Still desperately seeking the approval that I never got from my parents.

Who’s your favourite comedian and why?
My Dad. He took 30 minutes to tell a joke once and forgot the punchline.

Anything by the Beastie Boys.

From your favourite poem – could you give us a few lines that mean something to you?
Stop the Clocks. I just love that this poem was written as a joke and it's become so sentimental now.

If you were to die and come back as a person, animal or a thing, what would it be?
Sentient baby. With all my previous life's knowledge.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Parmesan cheese.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Listening to old people tell sad stories.
