Arts Centre commissions new hit performance
Salisbury Arts Centre has recently been working with national partners to commission a brand new piece of dance theatre, by an acclaimed company.
Babel is touring all over the UK and came to Salisbury Arts Centre on Thursday 11 February, where it performed to two sell out audiences.

Babel is a new performance by dance company Stan Won’t Dance which features dancers Rob Tannion and Liam Steel. Both dancers are also choreographers who have worked on many well know productions including Billy Elliot, Ben Hur and Lord of the Rings. Both also worked with well known contemporary dance company DV8.
The performance is very physical and uses an all male cast of some of the UK’s finest performers. The explosive choreography, dynamic street verse, video projections, a diverse soundtrack and a set of burnt out cars work to create what Is described as the ultimate act of dance theatre terrorism!
The street verse and script used in the piece has been developed by Whitbread award winning author Patrick Neate.
Dancers take on and slip between the roles of young people, soldiers, businessmen and politicians to depict a young generation in desperation. The piece is designed to raise fundamental questions about the Britain in which we live.
While they were here Salisbury Arts Centre has arranged for the company to hold a number of free workshops schools and young people. These include workshops with students at Wiltshire College Salisbury, Wiltshire College Trowbridge, Hampshire Collegiate School and Salisbury Arts Centre's own Youth Dance Company.
Babel has been getting some great reviews and press coverage. Please click on the links below to find out more about this cutting edge performance that Salisbury Arts Centre have helped create!
