Music Xpress is a music technology project, run across Wiltshire.   It offers young people aged 13 – 21, who do not regularly participate in arts and music activities, the opportunity to create their own music.  Through tuition from experienced and inspiring tutors, young people have been able to write, mix and record their own tracks.

The project developed from a highly successful pilot in 2005, during which young people developed skills in DJ-ing and music technology, creating new tracks and lyrics that were burnt onto CD.  Focusing primarily on intensive holiday courses and outreach session, Music Xpress now aims to establish a regular music technology programme across Wiltshire.

MusicXpress is run by the Wiltshire Youth Arts Partnership and the Wiltshire Music Centre, in partnership with Wiltshire Youth Development Service, Salisbury College and St Laurence School.  Funding has been provided by Youth Music, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, the Vodafone UK Foundation and the Home Office's 'Safer, Stronger, Communities' Fund through Wiltshire County Council's Community Safety Partnership.
