Explore African drumming, song, dance and traditional folk tales to create a performance for the end of the day.

You’ll also make props, like Maasai shields or animal masks, for your show and take home what you’ve made during the workshop.

Alex Miles has been teaching Percussion, African Drumming, Rhythm Structure, Interactive Music-Making, Native American Songs and Drumming, Samba and Musical Storytelling since 2001.

He's a Certfied Drum Circle Facilitator with Village Music Circles (Demonstrating an excellence in Facilitation Skills and Musicality) and has been studying West African Rhythms and Seneca Gathering Songs for 15 years. His teaching experience includes curriculum based music practice and he teaches music to children in EYFS, Primary, Secondary, Further Education and Special Needs settings. He currently runs several music projects for children with disabilities, including a contract with Barnardos and Wiltshire Council to provide music clubs for children and young people. 

Alex regularly provides workshops for all ages and abilities, including children with severe learning difficulties.

Through his lessons and workshops Alex helps children and young people achieve progressive learning in specific skills, and understanding of teamwork and group learning, as well a sense of wellbeing and confidence in music and working together.
